Meeting with Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan

During the conversation, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Rustam Minnikhanov discussed the issues of cultural and economic cooperation between Astana and Kazan.

The Head of State, congratulating Rustam Minnikhanov on the Day of Russia, noted the established friendly relations between the two nations.

- We have very warm relations with Russia and with Tatarstan. The Kazakh and Tatar people are very close in history, culture, language and customs. We have established good economic contacts. We are working with the KAMAZ enterprise, and we are actualizing projects for a helicopter plant in Almaty. It is necessary to develop these and other economic ties, including in petrochemicals, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

In his turn, the President of Tatarstan told about his mission in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and also shared his impressions after visiting the new architectural objects of the capital city and Astana EXPO-2017 exhibition complex.

- Today we have launched our exposition at EXPO. In addition, he discussed plans for cooperation with colleagues from Kazakhstan. I really admire the exhibition complex. We congratulate you on the Exhibition’s opening. I would also like to express my gratitude for  opening of Süümbike Street, Rustam Minnikhanov said.

In addition, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Rustam Minnikhanov discussed the implementation of infrastructure projects in the construction of "Western China - Western Europe" Road, as well as ways to increase the transit and transport potential of Kazakhstan and Tatarstan.

At the end of the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov handed over the Order of Merit to the President of Kazakhstan and invited the Head of our State to visit Tatarstan.
